Take a scenic drive through rolling hills dotted with tea estates to Kibale National Park, one of the most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. Check in to your camp, the only one located within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From this luxurious home base, set off on gorilla treks to track down these magnificent mammals at their most natural, a rare sight experienced by only the most fortunate. An even luckier few might see these placid creatures passing through the Gorilla Forest Camp, as there are no barriers, redefining any close encounter you have ever had with wildlife.

Lemala Mara is a seasonal camp that moves twice in the year – Lemala Mara spends June through October in the northern Serengeti by the Mara River, before closing for two weeks in November and then re-opens as Lemala Ndutu in the southern Ndutu plains from December through March..

Lemala Mara-Ndutu is a good quality semi-permanent tented camp. Staying here will give you excellent access to the area of the Serengeti where the wildebeest migration should be at that time. The camp is comfortable, stylish and well run by friendly staff – and the communal dining aspect lends it a real bush-camp feel.

For your Serengeti hot-air balloon trip, you will be collected around 0500 hours. An hour predawn drive through the bush to your launch site is a delight in itself. You may see nocturnal animals in the headlights that you could not have encountered any other way. 

In the cool early morning, a light-weight long-sleeved jacket and long trousers are a wise idea, with sturdy shoes. Remember to take your binoculars and DSLR camera to make the most of this highlight of your Serengeti excursion. The huge balloon inflates swaying impatiently as it lifts

Drive with picnic lunch with an opportunity to visit camps and lodges towards Central Serengeti then to Naona Moru Camp. You will stay here for 1 night. It is highly assumed that by this time there are still a lot of animals around. It is a phenomenon to live in your hearts and minds a lifetime.

Located on an elevated viewing point beside the famous Moru Kopjes, Naona Moru Camp allows game drives to explore the resident and migratory wild game all year round. The landscape pans from the great southern plains of the Serengeti into the central hub of the most famous national park in Africa, close to Seronera Airstrip. The tented suites cater for small group of friends and even families with large tents to place bedding for two adults and up to three children.

After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro, en-route visiting Oldupai Gorge, a river canyon cutting 300 ft. into the volcanic Serengeti plains, once home to our earliest ancestors. Their remains can still be found nestling in the exposed soils. The Oldupai Gorge aka “THE CRADLE OF MAN KIND” was made famous by Louis and Mary Leakey. Continue with your safari and check in at Lemala Ngorongoro Camp.

Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south western corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here. 

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp is located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on the quiet, eastern side of the crater rim, a short drive past the Lemala Gate. Set in a grove of red-thorn acacia trees, the camp has more of a bush feel than many camps in this area of Tanzania, with plenty of birdlife and frequent visits by buffalo and elephant at night. 

Lemala Ngorongoro has very easy access to the crater floor; it’s close to the ‘Sopa’ descent road on the eastern side of the crater and is actually inside the park gate. This makes it very convenient for getting into the crater as early as possible. 

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp has 9 spacious tents that are positioned carefully to provide privacy and with minimal impact on the pristine forest environment. They accommodate two queen-size beds, and as it can get cool on the Ngorongoro Crater rim at night, little luxuries like warm winter-weight duvets, hot water bottles and gas heaters ensure a cosy night’s sleep. The roomy en-suite bathrooms contain a dressing area, flush toilet and a large safari-style shower.

After breakfast we depart for the Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania’s dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African national park is also home to three rare species of animals – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings. After a picnic lunch we do an afternoon game drive.

In these wetlands, the view changes each day as different herds pass by in search of water, and after them, the big cats that inevitably follow.
